MGA is proud to recognize the 15 Year Anniversary of our operation located in Greer, South Carolina. This facility was opened in 2008 in response to several major MGA customers expanding in the region. Today, the team at the South Carolina laboratory is recognized as playing a key role in the Southern Automotive region by providing valuable services to support many customers in reaching their goals.
The lab was housed initially in a 15,000 sqft building. Initial capabilities included materials testing, life cycle, and air bag deployment. As the needs of the supplier base grew, a second building of 34,000 sqft was added to support additional equipment. Capabities added at this time included a full-scale sled, Multi-Axis Simulation Table (MAST), additional climatic chambers, several Electro-dynamic Shakers, and other specialized equipment tailored to European OEM standards.
Today, the diverse equipment and experienced staff provide Tier 1 and 2 Suppliers full DVPR test capabilities. Interior, Seating, and Component suppliers now have a local source for their testing needs. This has helped alleviate some of the logistical challenges of the past due to shipping components long distances, and sometimes overseas, for their development programs.
With the constant growth and changes in industry, the team continues to improve their overall capabilities. Equipment and technology upgrades are being made to keep pace with the needs of our customers. In addition to continued support, investments are being made to support new and emerging industry needs that have been driven by the electrification push to new vehicle architectures.
We are extremely proud of the strides made by our team and their contribution to the growth of the Southern Automotive Industry. For further information on MGA South Carolina’s testing services, please contact Greg Shen (greg.shen@mgaresearch.com).
